Lamy issued 3 special editions in the Safari series that are country-specific. The white barrel with red clip was issued in Japan (no surprise there, given that red and white are the colours in Japanese flag); The black barrel with yellow clip was also issued in Japan, but it was to commemorate 150th anniversary of establishment of Japan-German relationship (hence the colours of German flag); The red barrel with yellow clip was issued for the Chinese market.
All three pens are available for sale and in store.
The 90-year-old former Prime Minister of Malaysia, though retired from politics in 2003, has never been out of limelight. In fact, he played active roles in the appointments of both the Prime Ministers after him. And now he is at it again!
While many thought he is a crackpot politician, this shopkeeper regards him as a shrewd opinion maker whose points-of-view are always worth paying attention to.
One need only to read his controversial book written in 1970, in the context that he was at that time an out-of-favour politician, as well as his preface to the 2008 edition in which he corrected his own observations, to note that he is a very good thinker as well as writer- his controversial viewpoints notwithstanding.
Each year, Lamy releases a special edition for its Safari series of pens and pencils with different colours from its regular editions. As the production quantity is limited, they often became collector's items.
This Shopkeeper has collected quite a few of these over the years. And this Fountain Pen with orange body and chrome clip was the 2009 release.
